One of the funnest things about this blog and podcast is that I get to connect with some of the coolest nurses and nursing students on the planet.
I am continually motivated by the stories that I hear from our audience and the other nurses that I connect with. That drives me to continue my journey to improve nursing education and create a community of nurses and nursing students focused on that mission.
Recently I was thinking . . . “Who are some of the nurses I have met that would make an amazing unit?” . . . “What roles would those nurses have on the unit?”
Here is a partial list of some of the nurses I would LOVE to work with and the positions I think they could have on my “Dream Unit”
NurseNacole is a bad ass . . . (excuse the language but there is no other way to put it). I think she would make the most incredible manager because has more GENUINE passion for nursing than anyone I have met. . . and she won’t take crap from anyone.
I felt like I had found my long lost nursing sister during my conversation with Nacole on the podcast.
Working on a unit run by Nacole would be fun . . . but at the end of the day there is no doubt that things would be taken care of, nurses would feel appreciated, and patients would heal.

New Nurse Preceptor: NurseMendoza
If you don’t know NurseMendoza . . . are you living under a rock!
I would make NurseMendoza a preceptor for new nurses because he is one thing . . . fired up about nursing. New nurses need someone with fire and passion to help them transition into nursing and NurseMendoza can make anyone feel fired up and like they can accomplish anything.

My role on the unit would be working with nursing students. I LOVE working with nursing students and watching the light “go off” when they finally understand that concept they have been struggling with in class.
Precepting students is my passion. I love teaching and sharing everything I am learning.

New Grad Nurse: Ashley Adkins
Every unit needs that fresh, excited, and FIRED UP new grad . . . Ashley Adkins RN BSN is the perfect pick.
I enjoyed talking with Ashley right before she started her first job as we discussed life after nursing school. Ashley chronicles her journey navigating her first nursing job on YouTube and brings a smile and light to nursing in each video.

Nursing Student: NurseBass
NurseBass is my boy! He is taking nursing school by the horns and kicking its ass . . .
Every unit needs students. Nurse Bass would be our resident student on our dream unit for a couple reasons . . . the “perfect” nursing student is going to dive in, they are going to ask questions, and they are going to have a deep passion for nursing . . . Nurse Bass has all of those things and more which he shared with me in our podcast and which he shares on his YouTube channel.
